Looks like Dave is a permanent member of The Falcon ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Falcon_%28band%29 ) now, which raises some interesting questions: Will they tour together? Who writes the songs? Will Dave also do some vocals? I´m curious to see what happens next.

So, for the 10 year anniversary show, Toby called me up and told me, “You guys have to play and headline the show.” Well, we didn’t have a guitar player and we knew it had to be someone cool. I tweeted something stupid, kind of as a joke asking who wants to play guitar in the Falcon. Then, Dave Hause texts me asking if I seriously needed someone to play in the Falcon. And I was like, “Yes! Of course!” The first time he played on stage with the four of us was that show. We didn’t even get to rehearse.
But, in the end with all four of us singing and Dave’s killer solo, I am really stoked on how it came out. We all listened to it and were like, this is really fucking good.
Dave's song
Quote :
Dave brought the building blocks to his song and we hashed it out in the studio. It was nice to have them bring their vision and leave their very distinctive marks on the record.
What else do we like? Ehm … How about: Dave? We like Dave. There’s a Dave on our bill almost every year. His last name is Hause. And this time, he’s bringing people with cool names like Brendan and Neil and Dan. Wait? Really? Yep: The Falcon, featuring 2/3 of Lawrence Arms and 1/3 of Alkaline Trio, is flying to Europe for a very exclusive show at GROEZROCK.
Hause’s contribution, the aptly titled “If Dave Did It,” aims for a sort of “over the top” anger, key to the creepy, obsessive stalker vibe the track aims for. Hause’s somewhat pseudo-spoken word style fits the context and content, and with Andriano and Kelly giving an intermittent play-by-play commentary, listeners stand to enjoy the marked change of pace. .... Andriano and Hause may never be the definitive voice of The Falcon, but they are certainly welcome contributors deserving to take the mic from time to time.
Dan Andriano and Dave Haus each brought a track to the studio, and as the title “If Dave Did It” suggests, both are the songwriters’ take on what they think The Falcon is supposed to sound like. ..... “If Dave Did It” is easily Hause’s hardest-edged song to date. .... Kelly claims he made Hause throw out nearly all of the guitar leads he wrote for the songs because they were just too well done for what was ultimately supposed to be a shit-show, messy banger of a record.
Oh, and this one of course! (forgot to share it here) “The Fighter, The Rube, The Asshole” with a very impressive Dave Hause vocal contribution at the end:

Dave’s aptly titled, ‘If Dave Did It’, shows off how perfect of a fit he is for this band. His take on what the Falcon means to him while leaving his mark all over the place makes for one hell of a powerhouse jam.
It also doesn’t take long to recognize a glaring difference; the addition of Dave Hause to the band creates a much more musically complicated sound than with any of their prior work...... The song (The Fighter, The Rube, The Asshole) ends with Dave singing the most melodic “asshole” of all time and leads directly into the next track which begins with him shouting “BAY AREA BITCH” in his very own song entitled “If Dave Did It”. ....We agree that the track sounds like The All Brights having a 80s style knife fight in a LA parking lot with a coked out The Loved Ones and The Falcon just happen to be there drunkenly cheering on both sides.
Meanwhile, Hause takes the lead on “If Dave Did It” and while the choruses have a melody-heavy Loved Ones feel, elsewhere he’s vitriolic, unbridled and dissonant. The Falcon’s stage brings out a different side of him...
bay area bitch his father’s favorite son watch him wrap his handsome lips around my favorite gun
I saw when you walked in a chill ran down her spine better watch your hipster ass, I told you she was mine
what a tangled web I weave I can love her better, cause I don’t ever leave whatever he’s got that I ain’t got it’s only in my head
it’s just a switch I swear I can turn it off I swear that I’ll just head home, chalk it all up to a loss I swear that’s not me waiting right outside the bar I swear I won’t do anything, just stay here in the car
what a tangled web I weave I can love her better, because I don´t ever leave whatever he’s got that I ain’t got it’s only in my head it’s all here in my head
Actually I didn´t want to post all the interviews with Brendan Kelly here. I mean it´s forum about Dave´s music, not Brendan´s. But he talked so much about Dave... Maybe I should share a few:
I sent out a tweet saying something along the lines of, “Hey! Anyone out there want to be a lead guitar player for The Falcon? Must already be famous,” just to kind of be a dork! I wasn’t really expecting anything to come from it, and Dave Hause texted me and said, “Yo! Do you really need a guitar player in The Falcon?” And I was like, “Oh fuck! If it’s you, then yes, absolutely I do!”
...he’s a great singer and a shredder (on guitar). I don’t think he gets enough credit for being such a good guitar player, honestly, I had no idea he was such a ripper, but on this record his lead parts really shine through. They have a huge impact on the way the whole thing sounds.
I have no frame of reference for shows pre-Dave Hause, but with him, they sounded great. It was a kind of organized chaos, like having fun was a priority over playing perfectly. But both were possible because Dave Hause rules on guitar.

‘If Dave Did It’ perfectly showcases what Hause brings to the band – singalong choruses and riotous attitude. This is a new dimension to The Falcon we’ve never heard before; part Loved Ones and part Red City Radio – we simply can’t wait to see The Falcon tear up Groezrock.

The Falcon played at Groezrock festival in Belgium, their first ever and only gig in Europe. For now.
Before the show I had very mixed emotions about it. I was looking forward to it for weeks and at the same time I was afraid I would be disappointed because of missing Dave´s vocals. But all doubts vanished immediately after they started playing. Dave killed it on guitar! I was absolutely blown away and didn´t miss anything! (also a very special thanks to the sound guys; Dave´s mic was much louder than Brendan´s )
With the first chords of "If Dave Did It" the crowd went wild. Everybody was singing, jumping, dancing and stage diving. Like an explosion. That was definitely the highlight of their show, even though I am probably not very objective about this...
The Falcon is touring the US West Coast in July. If they play somewhere near you: GO! You won´t regret. And make sure you stand right in front of Dave´s amp!
This is what they played:

P.S.: Four Groezrock videos on Youtube until now. Three of them: If Dave Did It. No words needed...
